The FORWARD Method: A Parent Coaching Framework for Supporting Your Child’s Healing from Disordered Eating and Body Image Challenges
My FORWARD method is a 7-step, personalized coaching process designed to guide parents as they support their child through recovery. This framework helps you feel confident, connected, and clear on how to be the anchor your child needs—while building a comprehensive, coordinated plan for healing.
F — Find your family values. We begin by clarifying your family’s core values and vision for health, connection, and healing. These values become the foundation for your parenting decisions and how you show up for your child. Together, we reframe what health and recovery look like in your unique family system, helping you lead with purpose instead of fear.
O — Organize and oversee the care team. You don’t have to manage this alone. I help you identify, organize, and collaborate with the key professionals your child needs—therapists, dietitians, doctors, and school supports. I fill in the gaps, helping you coordinate care so everyone is working toward the same goal. I’ll guide you through what questions to ask, how to advocate for your child, and how to make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
R — Recognize generational patterns. We look at how your own upbringing and family history around food, body image, and emotions may be impacting your parenting today. Together, we break cycles of shame, perfectionism, or diet culture and create a healthier, more compassionate narrative for your family moving forward.
W — What to Say (and Not to Say). Many parents worry they’ll say the wrong thing. I provide scripts and communication strategies for difficult conversations—whether it’s around meals, emotions, or body image. You’ll learn what helps (and what can unintentionally hurt), so you can talk with your child in ways that build trust, safety, and connection.
A — Anchor yourself with emotional regulation-your child needs you to be their safe harbor. We focus on helping you regulate your own emotions, so you can respond calmly instead of reacting out of fear or frustration. You’ll learn strategies to stay grounded, even in the hardest moments, and how to model resilience for your child.
R — Rebuild relationships and Instill Resilience
Eating disorders often strain family relationships. I support you in rebuilding connection with your child by focusing on attunement, presence, and empathy. Whether trust has been broken or communication feels tense, you’ll learn how to repair and strengthen your bond—without stepping into the role of “food police.”
D — Develop a roadmap for long-term recovery because recovery is a journey, not a straight line. Together, we create a sustainable, long-term plan tailored to your child and family.
A clear plan for what to do next
Tools to help your child (and yourself) feel safe and supported
Confidence that you’re not alone and you’re doing this right
✨ Support between therapy and doctor visits A trusted parent and health coach who gets it and guides you along the way
A parent coach supports parents in building effective parenting skills, enhancing family dynamics, and handling challenges in raising children.
Through evidence-based strategies, they assist with discipline, communication, emotional regulation, and mental health. Instead of offering direct solutions, parent coaches work alongside parents to strengthen their approach, boost confidence, and create a nurturing environment for their children.
Health and well-being coaches empower clients to improve their health by helping them set and achieve goals using evidence-based strategies.
Health coaching, proven effective in clinical trials, is most credible when the coach holds an NBC-HWC certification. I have my NBC-HWC and a Master’s in Public Health. I’m also a certified parent coach through the Jai Institute of Parenting.
Therapists explore emotions by examining the past to understand their origins, while coaches help clients acknowledge emotions and develop coping strategies. Therapists diagnose and guide, whereas coaches work collaboratively with clients to identify challenges and achieve goals.
Coaching focuses on action and change, aiming to boost self-awareness and bridge the gap between current reality and potential, while counseling is more reparative.

“ It feels like magic since I started working with Siah. It’s the first time I’ve felt confident in my skills and tools to improve my relationship with food. I’ve learned so much from her and see food and my body differently after working with her.”
“Everything in my life has changed since began working with Siah. She motivates me and provides me space and tools to make changes but makes sure I’m ready and not overwhelmed. It’s the first time I’ve actually taken actions to make my life better and tackle my emotional eating. It’s been so helpful to have her viewpoint.”
“After working with Siah, it has become so clear to me how disordered my eating was as a teen. I’m now in my early 20’s and am past the disordered thinking . She has helped me view my body differently. I also only eat out of hunger now since she’s taught me strategies that work. She also made it many for me to have a burger with fries the other night. She had told me have the burger if that’s what you want and add a salad or veggies to it. She made it okay for me to eat real meals in a balanced and healthy way. No more disordered thinking when it comes to food and my body. I am so grateful to Siah for this”
I was looking for a parent coach to help me with having a deeper connection with my son and came across Siah. I worked with her for less than two months, but she made a huge difference! Siah helped with managing and verbalizing my emotions and concerns. She also explained and provided insight into my son's behavior. Every week I had an action item to work on and new insights to consider. My relationship with my son has improved tremendously thanks to her guidance. And I have the tools to keep it that way!

Parent and health Coach Siah has helped me feel more balanced. I have learned to successfully balance home life, school and self-care. Before we began our work, I never would have imagined being able to make self-care a priority. I have learned to not run myself into the ground to feel successful. I let school and all of the other demands on me,consume me.”
